The Story Behind the LaserCue
The manufacturer, In-Step Mobility, was inspired to design the LaserCue by Michael J. Fox. He encouraged USN to make a version of our LaserCane® that can be retrofitted to any walking stick so you can benefit from this technology while using the stick of your choice. Through our collaboration we have created the LaserCue module that allows you to enjoy an easier stride, while choosing a stick to fit your needs and personality—from classy to bold, wood or metal.
What is the LaserCue?
The LaserCue is an innovative product designed to attach to any walking stick and reduce Parkinson’s freezing. It works by projecting a safe, obstacle-free red line on the floor to step toward, which can enable Parkinson’s patients with “freezing” episodes to walk with less hesitation, longer strides and more safety. The laser projects every time your stick touches the floor while walking. The LaserCue, appropriately named for how it works, uses laser cueing technology to reduce Parkinson’s freezing.
In-Step Mobility have been producing laser cueing products for almost twenty years, and have helped over 30,000 people with Parkinson’s to walk more safely and with less hesitation. Attainability UK Ltd are proud to have been their UK distributor since 2007.
The LaserCue module installs easily on walking sticks that measure between 19mm – 22mm (3/4″-7/8″) diameter. Just slide the LaserCue up the body of the stick close to the handle and tighten the two thumbscrews on the back of the LaserCue to secure it to your stick. (Youtube assembly videos available)
The LaserCue is powered by two AA batteries that last many months and are easy to change without any tools.
You can choose from one of two handsome designs and also select a left- or right-handed product.
